WCMS teachers present at Conference

Washington County Middle School teachers, Samantha Hoppes, Elizabeth Hahn, and Whitney Bowen, presented at the Learning from Kentucky’s Classrooms Conference this past weekend in Bowling Green. Dawn Curtsinger (WCHS) and Erica Baker (NWMS) also presented at the conference. They shared formative assessment techniques and their experiences with the Next Generation Science Standards with other teachers and administration from around the state.      


Drop-off and Pick-up Information

ATTENTION Parents of WCES and WCMS students: At the start of the 2017-2018 school year, a new drop-off and pick-up route will be implemented for all WCES/WCMS car riders. Washington County Middle School will host an Open House event on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Students can pick up their schedules and meet their teachers. School Resource Officer Survey

The WC BOE has met several times to study the possibility of a SRO (School Resource Officer) – one district wide.  We continue to be in the learning stage, but would like your opinion. There are many factors to weigh when considering this option, including funding and finding the right individual. WCMS Mock Presidential Election

WCMS students participated in a mock election on Friday November 4th. Mrs. Mackin’s social studies classes help lead the election as all students had the opportunity to cast their vote. With a slim lead, Hilary Clinton was elected with 50.5% of the vote.  Above, students Zhao Lin, Blake Arnold, and Margaret Stevens proudly display their “I Voted” stickers after they voted in the mock election.

Students Celebrate Scores

Last week students at WCMS celebrated our KPREP scores and achievements. Students were recognized and received certificates if they scored Proficient or Distinguished in Reading or Math, as well as if they showed significant growth from the previous year.
