(SPRINGFIELD, Ky.) – A Washington County High School student’s name and ACT score has been added to the school’s “Commanding Excellence ACT Wall of Fame”. Madelyn Sagrecy, a WCHS senior, scored a 29. The board was created to recognize students for their achievement of exceeding the standard benchmark. A student who earns a composite score of 28 or above will be celebrated by having their name and score posted. If the student continues to improve their ACT score by taking the exam multiple times, the board will be modified to reflect their highest current score.
Sagrecy says she did independent studying and utilized assistance from her mother to study for the math portion of the test. Besides her score helping her earn scholarships and get into the honors program at her college of choice, Sagrecy says she also wanted to score high just for herself. “I push myself to be the best I can be, and I wanted to prove to myself that I could do well on the ACT.” Sagrecy is a member of the WCHS chapter of FCCLA, Beta, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Art Honor Society, the Art Club, Youth for Christ and Teen Leadership. She is also a member of the WCHS Commanderette Basketball team, the WCHS Commander Bass Fishing team, the St. Dominic Youth Group, the River of Life Traction Youth Group and is student representative of the Gender Equity Committee.
“It is truly exciting and rewarding to see WCHS recognize students that have achieved academic greatness,” says Washington County Schools Superintendent Dr. J. Robin Cochran. “We are proud of Maddy’s accomplishment. She has shown the willingness to achieve at high levels in order to prepare for postsecondary opportunities. We also recognize and appreciate the parental and teacher support that has assisted her in attaining this success and hope that the recognition will inspire others to command excellence!”
Sagrecy says she plans to attend the University of Louisville and pursue a career in pediatric health care. She is the daughter of Christina and Scott Sagrecy.
