WCHS Greenhouse Opens Today

(Springfield, Ky.) – Washington County High School’s greenhouse will be open for business starting today.  Bart Mattingly, WCHS agriculture teacher and advisor the WCHS chapter of Future Farmers of America (FFA) says that seeding, transplanting, variety selection and inventory started immediately after the holiday break. “We completed the Poinsettia sale and jumped right in to spring production,” he said. His students are given tasks and jobs to complete each day….

Attention Washington County High School Class of 2017 –  the deadline to apply for the Dwight Wright Memorial Scholarship is Friday, April 28, 2017! The Dwight Wright Memorial Scholarship is being offered to WCHS seniors. Mr. Wright spent 50+ years dedicated to helping the city of Springfield become the community it is today. Congressman Brett Guthrie, who represents the 2nd District of Kentucky, visited fifth grade students from Washington County Elementary School and North Washington Elementary School in an assembly held at WCES today. WCES and NWES Principals Attend ‘Personalized Learning’ Training in Wisconsin

(Springfield, Ky.) – Washington County Elementary School principal Dr. Jennifer Miller and North Washington Elementary School Principal Amanda M. Mattingly recently attended training though the Kentucky Innovation Lab network at the Institute for Personalized Learning in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. The two principals visited four different elementary and middle schools that each highlighted student choice and individualized learning. Bullying Prevention Workshop to Be Offered for Parents

A bullying prevention workshop entitled, “Stop Bullies” will take place on April 11, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Washington County Elementary School in the gymnasium. The program is open to Washington County Elementary School, Washington County Middle School and Washington County High School parents. North Washington Elementary School is also having this program on April 25, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. also in the gymnasium….
