In-Person Instruction

Students enrolled in WCS traditional school will return to campus and classrooms on a regular schedule with in-person teachers. Health and safety procedures will be enhanced and meet Kentucky’s Healthy at School Guidelines.
Washington County Schools believes the best place for our students is in the school building. We are taking the following measures to ensure students are safe at school.

Health and Safety Actions on Campus

  • Symptom screening for all staff and students to include daily temperature checks

  • Students with symptoms will be isolated under adult supervision and parents will be contacted to pick up

  • Social distancing in common areas with signs and floors may be marked for safe distance

  • Hand sanitizing stations placed throughout the schools and in classrooms

  • Students in 1st-12th grade will be required to wear masks during transitions and in classrooms when appropriate social distancing is not possible. The first mask will be provided for those who do not bring their own. Parents are expected to provide masks. For more details see Healthy-At-School Guidance or Return to School FAQ.

  • Increased cleaning protocols in all areas of the school

  • Increased frequency of hand washing

  • Limited group gatherings

  • Parents will ensure student is fever free before getting on the bus. Temperatures will also be taken upon entering the building

  • Use of masks on buses where social distancing cannot be accommodated for 1st-12th grade students

  • Hand sanitizer will be available on buses

  • Buses will be cleaned between routes

  • Household members will be encouraged to sit together

  • Please see Bus Transportation Plan for more information.

NOTE: If a parent decides to begin the school year using In-Person Instruction, there may be times throughout the year where it is decided that there needs to be an intermittent classroom, grade level or school building closures where students will stay home and take part in the Remote Instruction/NTI Program. Please see our Color Tier System  to be advised on how schools will consider the need for closures.
