The Washington County Board of Education will have a surplus sale at the TEL Center (Old WCES) at 520 Lincoln Park Road, Springfi eld, KY on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. Items for sale include some shelving/cubbies, old school supplies, weight equipment, and other miscellaneous items.

On Tuesday, Larry Elliott who portrays Abraham Lincoln came to WCES to present factual information to our 5th grade students. Mr. Elliott provided information regarding Abraham Lincoln’s childhood up to his presidency and what he believed in as a politician. Thanks Mr. Elliott for coming to WCES!!
Last week, FRYSC went to the Kindergarten and 1st grade classes to discuss the importance of being kind and caring. They also completed an activity to promote Child Abuse Awareness month. Each student decorated a colored hand. The hands were shaped into a rainbow to promote the importance of being kind to one another. It was emphasized to the students that hands were for loving and not for hurting.

The Scholastic Bookfair is coming to WCES! The Bookfair will be Monday, April 16th through Friday, April 20th. The hours for the bookfair are: Monday, April 16th: 10am-3pm Tuesday, April 17th: 10am-6:30pm Wednesday, April 18th: 10am-4pm Thursday, April 19th: 10am-4pm Friday, April 20th: 10am-12noon
3rd Grade Student of the Month is Cierra Coleman: Cierra is the daughter of Rochelle and Gary Coleman. Her favorite teachers are Mrs. Riney, Mrs. Vincent, and Mrs. Newton and her favorite subjects are Reading and Social Studies. Cierra enjoys recess and learning new things.
